Coaching Staff

SHANNA KOKONIS

Shanna is a results-oriented Level 2 Certified Pickleball Instructor with a proven track record of delivering exceptional coaching and instruction to players of all skill levels. She is a dedicated ambassador for the sport and deeply passionate about promoting and cultivating a thriving pickleball community in the Victoria Region. With a strong emphasis on technique, strategy, and player development, she is adept at adapting to individual learning styles and bridging skill transfers from previous sporting experiences. Shanna leverages creative,  innovative and high-energy programming to create a motivating and fun environment.  Shanna started her Pickleball journey in Ontario in 2021, but since moving to Victoria in 2023 she has been actively involved in all facets of the pickleball community in BC including a successful 4.0 tournament competitor, tournament administrator, VRPA instructor and general pickleball fanatic.

Roger Graves is a certified Level 2 National Coaching Certification Program pickleball coach.  He is professor emeritus at the University of Alberta, where he worked helping instructors there become better teachers. He brings his 40+ years of teaching experience to the court to help students continue their pickleball journeys. His own pickleball journey began in 2020 when a curling friend persuaded him to give pickleball a try. He consistently places on the podium at the BC 55+ Games, winning a gold medal with partner Barb Bradford in 2023 at the 3.5 level. He taught over 20 pickleball classes last year and is looking forward to teaching and playing on the fantastic new courts at the VPC!

ROGER GRAVES

Becca Stuve is a Nationally Certified Level 1 pickleball instructor who believes pickleball should be fun and inclusive.  

 

 Becca is encouraging, supportive and adaptable to your needs.  

 

Becca started her passion approximately 13 years ago at the Prince George YMCA.  In 2015 relocated to Langford and started successfully competing in tournaments at a 3.5 and 4.0 level both Provincially and Nationally.  

 

At this time Becca is instructing for the Victoria Regional Pickleball Association past classes included;  Learn to Play, Drills and Skills, Partner Play and Intro to Pickleball Tournaments and is excited to begin Coaching/ Instructing for the Victoria Pickleball Centre. 

BECCA STUVE

Heather is a passionate advocate for developing the sport of pickleball at all age levels.  A NCCP Certified Level 2 Instructor, Heather has been coaching throughout the South Island Region for many years and loves seeing many former session participants now competing at all levels of recreational play and bringing home the Gold in Tournament play.

 

Heather continues to take an active leadership role in the Pickleball Community.  She is the Regional Director Representative for BC and Yukon with Pickleball Canada Organization PCO; and Co-Chair for Youth Initiatives with Pickleball BC.  She was also one of the original Founders of Victoria Regional Pickleball Association.  

 

Currently, Heather is working with Pickleball BC on a youth pilot project to promote a “Pickleball Schools in BC” model where pickleball is taught in school settings by teachers.
